UltraEdit not supporting editing right to left (RTL) text?

I'm trying to edit Arabic text (in fact Arabic text within an HTML file), and am having some problems:

Whilst I can get the UTF8 Arabic character set to display fine, (I have the editor in UTF-8 DOS mode, and have html tag attributes dir="rtl" and lang="AR" in my html), the file saves and displays fine. But if I try to highlight any of the Arabic text in order to cut and paste, the editor actually selects the wrong text, in the wrong direction; thus it is actually impossible to edit any of the Arabic text string.

I have searched extensively via Google and come up with generally helpful links such as:

    http://www.ultraedit.com/support/tutori ... icode.html
    http://www.w3.org/International/tutorials/bidi-xhtml/

though none actually addresses this particular issue, which seems to be related to the way Ultraedit renders highlighted text within the editor itself. By contrast, Notepad editor allows such editing, fine (albeit the cursor keys work the opposit way around, though that is expected).

Can anyone help me out here?

    Thanks for any assistance.

UltraEdit and UEStudio do not support right to left text editing, whether UltraEdit / UEStudio for Windows, nor UEX for Linux nor UEM for MAC.

So I'm not really surprised that things are not working correct with text files containing RTL text. That UltraEdit supports Unicode files and Unicode fonts does not mean that UE supports also RTL languages. Sorry, but you need another editor really supporting RTL text editing.

Many thanks for the response Mofi. That would explain it then. Ho hum.

In fact I have already just found an editor that will do what I want here - http://www.babelstone.co.uk/Software/BabelPad.html

(Although I continue to use Ultraedit for virtually everything else).

Hope this helps anyone with a similar requirement.
