Is there a limit for bookmarks per file?

    Hi,

I am using UE version 15. I am using the bookmark feature to highlight/marking all the strings that I am searching for in a file. However, I have noticed it marks some of the strings found, and not others. Is there a max bookmark limit, or is there a setting in my configuration that I need to add so that *ALL* the strings that are found are bookmarked and not just some of them. Any assistance will be much appreciated. Thanks.

In older versions of UltraEdit there was the limit of 50 bookmarks per file. To find out if there is a new limit I opened a file and simply executed a macro which added a bookmark on every line of the file. After 500 lines no bookmarks were set anymore. So the new limit is now 500 bookmarks per file.

Mofi - You rock! I will look at your post on macros, and see if I can create a quick one to check the bookmarks on mine. Is UE version 15 considered old version?

I executed today on v15.00.0.1047 the same test as yesterday on v17.00.0.1025. This test showed me that v15.00 supports also up to 500 bookmarks.

Another test with UE v12.10a returned the result of 300 bookmarks per file. After some more tests I found out that a maximum of 300 bookmarks are supported by UltraEdit up to v14.00.

Starting with UE v14.10 up to 500 bookmarks can be set per file.

UE v10.10c and v10.20d support only up to 50 bookmarks per file.

The next version I have archived is v11.10c which supports already 300 bookmarks per file. So the increase of the maximum number of bookmarks from 50 to 300 was done most likely in UE v11.00 as changes.txt contains for v11.00 also a line with "Improved bookmarks".
