Is it possible to make a list of strings I often use accessible while I'm writing to save some time in repetitive tasks? I mean a saved list that is always available, also after having closed the program

    ?

      Hi, welcome to the forum!

How about using macros for your often-needed strings? You can then even assign them to hotkeys.

If you want a set of strings that's available outside of UE, I'd suggest you Google the term "clipboard manager".

I have some problems to understand what you want.

Do you want a list of strings which you can easily access within UltraEdit which is not lost at closing UE, but is always available again after starting UE?

Or do you want a list of strings available in all your applications and not only in UltraEdit?

For the first one I suggest using UltraEdit templates - see menu Advanced - Display/Modify Templates and the help about this function. The templates are accessable via hotkeys you can define in the key mapping configuration dialog, or via Advanced - Individual Templates or via the template list which is opened when you click on View - Views/Lists - Template List. You can also modify the menu/toolbars and add the template calls.

You can also use the taglist file. Open View - Views/Lists - Tag List. For modifying the tags, click the right button in the Tag List view and click on Modify Tags. In the taglist file you can group your tags.

Finally you can also create an auto-complete file. It's possible to assign different auto-complete files to different file extensions.
Best regards from an UC/UE/UES for Windows user from Austria

Yes, I meant within UE. The tag function is perfect!

            thanks
