How can I make Ultraedit detect the text being edited as bash code and activate the syntax highlighting ?

Renaming the file to a particular extension is of course not acceptable.

Can it be made to detect #!/bin/bash on the first line of the file ?

Is it also not possible to activate syntax highlighting manually while editing, independently of the filename?

Can syntax highlighting also not be activated by a macro?

(I was thinkin about having a macro read the first line and switch bash-highlighting on if it found #!<anything>/bash)

Would any of this be possible in a newer version of UltraEdit? (currently using v6.0)

Not sure it was in 6.0, but in later versions you can manually set the highlighting scheme under View -> View as...
