    Hello,
evaluating UltraEdit so just installed evaluation version 12+1

    I went into Advanced/Configuration, then
    File Handling/Load and checked:
"Use default directory from shortcut on initial file open"
No other options checked on this page.

I set my shortcut "Start in" to C:\temp.

I then Open a file from D:\temp, close UltraEdit, choose Open File
and directory is set to D:\temp, not C:\temp.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

There is something wrong with the procedure you have described.

1.) You have opened a file from D:\Temp.

2.) You closed UltraEdit - really? Or have you only closed the file opened before?

3.) Next you have used Open File. How did you do that when UE is closed?

I guess, in step 2 you only have closed the file. But with option Use default directory from shortcut on initial file open only the FIRST file open is executed with the working directory specified at "Start in" of the shortcut. If you open a file once from a different directory, the working directory for next open is changed to this directory even if this or no file is open anymore.

For a detailed description of the open options see my second post at how to stop macro from changing folders.
Best regards from an UC/UE/UES for Windows user from Austria

Sorry for the confusion, I meant that I closed the application.

Got it working by going to "Configuration/Directories" and setting the "Default Directory" to C:\temp.

The "Use default directory from shortcut on initial file open" does not seem to work for me.

        Thanks.
