Using jEdit I can mark different directories that I visit quite frequently as favorites. I don't see a way to do this with UltraEdit and it's a huge time saving feature.

Yes, there is a project set up, but you have to add files to the project. That's not really what I want. I have serveral different mapped drives on my machine and some of the folders I frequent are nested fairly deep. It's way annoying to have to click your way through to get to common directories.

Is there a way to mark 'favorite directories' that I am just missing?

Am I the only one that would like to see this feature? I would have definitely assumed it a given that this feature existed.

To get around this limitation, I'm using xplorer2 lite and from there I can bookmark directories that I frequent and from there I open up the file(s) in UE. It's not as convenient though as having this built into UltraEdit.

A favorite directories feature already exists in UltraEdit.

Open File - Favorite Files. You will see, that you cannot only add favorite files, you can also add folders with the "Add Folder" button. If you later open favorite files and double click on a favorite folder, the file open dialog is automatically opened with that directory as start directory.

Assign a hotkey to "Favorite Files" or add it to your toolbar, if you need it often.

Since UE v13.10 there is also a Favorites tab in the File Tree View of UltraEdit and users can create multiple user defined file groups.

Ahh thank you! I feel stupid now:) - although, not 'that' stupid, I would have never thought to look at a favorite "files" menu item to find favorite directories. Glad it's there though! Now, I'm sold.. I'll have to buy this editor.

Although I like the "favorite files" option and a way to open a favorite directory from there, I still wish there was a favorite directories option like there is in jEdit...

That is, what I'd really like is a way to quickly get to the favorite directories directly in the explorer window. Possibly a simple drop down list in a text area box directly above the explorer list would be perfect.

If this doesn't exist, I'll suggest it to support.

I never noticed the Favorite Files feature. Too bad Microsoft didn't integrate something into the file open box. I use the same workflow rickcr does except I use an Explorer plugin called DMEXbar instead of xplorer2.
