    How can I search for a unicode string in hex mode?
    I hope I'm missing something, since it would be unbelievable if this wasn't already implemented.

      You cannot search in hex mode for unicode strings. In hex mode you can either search in HEX or ASCII. In hex mode a file is a sequence of bytes (not characters!) and not a text file with a specific encoding. That's why it is called HEX MODE.
