Well, if someone discover the answer, tell me also. :) Actually, I have the same problem, with files encoded as ISO-8859-1. I'm using UEX 1.0.0.5 on Ubuntu 9.04 (32 bits) Another collateral effect which I perceived is the Function List doesn't work properly on these files.
