- It is not possible to execute a vbScript from in the UE IDE... though I have suggested to IDM that they enhance UES to support Windows script execution and debugging like vbsEdit does.Posted in Custom User Tools/Tool Configuration

- But there is one more method to open quickly 1 or more files using a file name specifiation... File - Quick Open I would have suggested Quick Open as well but, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to consistently/reliably change/set the root folder in the Quick Open dialog so that I can use ...Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- Another thing to note is that the latest verson of UltraCompare Professional now has a "Duplicate File Finder" which serves quite well at finding files (since that is what it was designed to do). Since UC and UE are integrated, you can open the returned files in UltraEdit from UltraCompare. Give it ...Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- One option: In the "Find in files" dialog, click [Advanced], enable Perl Regular Expressions, then set your search criteria to: (?s)(.*) Put your semicolon-delimited list of file masks in the "In Files/Types" text box. Optionally, list "File names/extensions to ignore in search" at the bottom of the...Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- I asked IDM about this issue again. The answer is that they have no intention of changing the existing functionality anytime soon. Clicking the Help button says: Find next/prev finds selected text (not last searched for text) If this option is selected the editor will find the selected text when a F...Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- I don't believe this functionality has changed as of Version 17.20.0.1013. F3 continues to find previously defined regular expression instead of newly selected text.Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- I don't have Ubuntu. I do have Mandriva, however, and I can enter special characters either by using the <Ctrl>+<Shift>+u method, or by using the "compose" method. Before using the "compose" method, I did need to activate the "compose" key. The bottom of this page does have instructions for Unicode ...Posted in UEX General Discussion

- In Gnome / GTK + flavors of Linux, hold down < Ctrl >+< Shift > while typing U followed by the four-digit hex value of the special character. For example: < Ctrl >+< Shift >+ u00ae for the registered trademark character " ® " With Windows versions of UE, hold < Alt > while typing the four-digit de...Posted in UEX General Discussion

- The Explorer pane allows you to access/change file properties including the read-only flag. Also, under the Edit drop-down menu you can toggle "read-only" mode. This doesn't change the attribute on the file, but it does enable editing in the edit pane. After editing, you can trigger a Save As then r...Posted in Configuration/INI Settings

- Will be nice and useful if clicking a word UE highlight all occurrence automatically (not using the Find command). While single clicking in NP++ is convenient, it really isn't the best solution for an editor that handles huge files. A global highlight on a huge file could really bog down the editor...Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- With a Perl regular expression, you can do it this way: (?s) / \* .* \* / \* matches an asterisk. Since * is a special character, the \ is needed to escape the special functionality and match the actual character. .* matches everything in between. The . is a wildcard that matches any character. The ...Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- Although I agree that it would be nice for a UES license holder to have the choice of running either UES or UE using the same license, IDM does not consider UE to be a trimmed down "subset" of UES. According to IDM, they are considered to be two separate product lines each requiring their own licens...Posted in UEStudio General Discussion
