It seems that there are certain aspects of Windows development that can be set as "defaults" [use whatever the appearance settings dictate] and then sometimes they are as the developer envisions them instead, taking away that uniformity. Ah well... Thanks, Chuck

Is there a way to have the menus in UC look [selected items, color etc.] like those in UltraEdit -- which follow the color/font settings of the o/s defaults? They would be a bit easier to see. Regards, Chuck Billow

Is there any way to have the fonts on the pull down menu items match the fonts on the menu bar? I have bad eyes, and I set things like menus for Arial bold 9 point, for instance. I went all through it again... this time adding the notepadw.exe to both folders. Now it seems to be holding. It would be nice if MS just said "Do you want us to protect your files, or do you want to do it?" and then left it the heck alone!

When I started up this morning, my notepad.exe had switched back! And the ownership as well. How come, and how do I prevent it happening again? Regards, Chuck

I am set as an Administrator. If I'm in WINDOWS and I right click notepad.exe, and select the Security tab, it shows Object name Notepad.exe Group or User Names - System Administration Users Trusted Installer And in Permissions for Administrators it shows only "Read/Execute" and "Read".

I used XP for ages with UE as the notepad replacement. I just "upgraded" to Vista Home Premium, and the "old" method of replacing notepad doesn't seem to fit, as the dllcache folder is gone, and they've changed the WFP methodology (haven't they?). So now how do I replace notepad,exe with UE? Regards...
