- Mofi, nice job on the 254 color icons. What app/method did you use? Looks very nice. Do the indexed icons retain their appearance across multiple platforms? I agree that the icons should have a border for contrast. Thanks for your help!Posted in Editor Display

- Mofi, after reading your last post about all the details needed to configure Windows to use the good UE icon, it sounds as if UE will retain the ugly borg icons, but the old, stylish UE icons will be available with some modification of Windows. So the default icon will always be the ugly borg icon f...Posted in Editor Display

- So v2023.1.0.19 still has the borg icons? Maybe the next version will fix the black box dilemma. Hopefully.Posted in Editor Display

- Hey, just got the update to UltraEdit 2023.0.0.50 and ... where are the old icons??? Staring at the ugly black box that used to be my favorite text editor. This is pitiful. Did someone at IDM buy a black Hummer or something? Pardon me for being irritated, but I *HATE* the ugly black icons that again...Posted in Editor Display

- We will restore the classic application icon in our next release, 2023.1 (ETA early August). We're also exploring ways to make it an easily configurable option in a future update. Ben Schwenk Ben, thank you so much for the good news! I only happened to read your message since I was headed to the si...Posted in Editor Display

- Mofi, thank you for contributing, but you just posted a 6.6K set of rigorous and detailed instructions for modifying the registry, modifying OS parameters, restarting machines and who knows what else, all to restore the old UE icon. I can't help but wonder who came up with that garish new icon. I m...Posted in Editor Display

- Can Show font with OEM Character Set be added to the currently latest UE v23.xx? The *.mb1 files are no longer used, apparently. Thanks.Posted in Configuration/INI Settings

- I would disagree. I find an attitude that data loss isn't important because "most users don't need it often" incomprehensible. Perhaps a fault in a car airbag, database system, or computer disk filing system that it can reproducibly fail or lose data "but not often, so let's ignore it" makes sense ...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Not to dredge up an old topic, but I can't find the command OEM Character Set in the View menu anymore since updating to v17.10. I tried several different fonts, but the command is still missing. According to the help files, it should be there.Posted in Configuration/INI Settings

- Well... YAY! I gotta admit, I hate Notepad, so it'll be nice to use UE for my large edits and never use Notepad again.Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- As a side note to this Ultraedit is limited to I think 15 previous files remembered, when you try to execeed that Ultraedit explains that this is a Windows thing. I wonder about that now that I have EditPad Pro and Office 2007. Office 2007 now remembers up to 50 files. EditPad Pro remembers even mo...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Does anyone know when UltraEdit will be able to undo more than 25kb? When I make single edits of more than 25000 bytes in a text file or more than 95751 bytes in a binary file, the changes cannot be undone by UltraEdit. For example, if I select a block of text 25001 bytes in size and hit delete, I c...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Mofi, thank you for the response. I'm sure that it takes programming skill to be able to create good Undo capabilities, but I'm also certain that the same programming team that figured out how to create a complex application like UltraEdit will surely be able to significantly improve UltraEdit's Und...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- <rant> I know I've posted about this before, but I am becoming less and less satisfied with UltraEdit each day. This is in large part due to Uedit's extremely poor Undo capabilities. It started when I discovered that I couldn't Undo changes that involved more than 25k of data (Windows XP, RAM up to ...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Thanks for the reply. I've tried it on two XP SP2 desktops and one XP SP2 laptop (varying amounts of RAM, from 512mb to 2gb). Never could get it to undo. Even IDM said it wouldn't work: "There is an internal boundary set (as you've noted) for the undo operations. This may be changed in a future rele...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion
