- Whenever I save a file on C:, ultraedit changes the file permissions to 000 rather than 700, according to cygwin. Notepad does not do this. Windows doesn't care, but in order for cygwin scripts to be able to use those files, I need to manually chmod 700 them as administrator. Is there a way to preve...Posted in FTP/SFTP / SSH/Telnet

- My goal would be to have each check-in or check-out be atomic, so that if a file is read-only, it is guaranteed to be "checked in", which to me means it matches what is on the live server. So, I wouldn't want to ever change the read-only state of a file manually. Instead, I'd want any write permissi...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- I love UltraEdit, but still use Dreamweaver for work because of its simple check-in/check-out feature. If I can find a way to emulate Dreamweaver's check-out feature, I can finally switch 100% to UltraEdit. Here are the features I would like to emulate: 1) When a file is checked in, its local copy i...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Good to hear. I am curious about the pricing plan for the Linux version. I suspect that most of the UE-Linux users will be [former or current] UE-Windows users. Many of us will continue to use Windows and Linux for a while, sometimes on the same machine (via multi-boot). Would the same license keys ...Posted in UEX General Discussion

- Ron, Did you type up any notes about the linux editors as you tested them (and compared them to UltraEdit)? What about jedit gave it the edge? TravisPosted in UEX General Discussion

- This hotfix helps a little. Starting UE for the first time is still a little sluggish: 4-5 seconds. Subsequent restarts are definitely the fastest yet (for version 13.x): about 2-3 seconds. Out of curiosity, what did you change to make it start faster? Which of the "slowness" observations on here (i...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Installed 12.00a today. It looks like UltraEdit still doesn't have basic file functions in its Explorer pane. :( Is this something we should request? Or am I the only one who wants to be able to copy, rename, and move files using the Explorer pane?Posted in Projects/Workspace

- On a similar note, how can we create a folder within UltraEdit's "Explorer" window? I wish UltraEdit's "Explorer" window could let us perform the usual move/copy/create functions that we normally associate with the Windows Explorer. It's a pain to have to leave the context of UltraEdit in order to p...Posted in Projects/Workspace

- Chris - Terminus is great! I've been using it for countless hours since that last post. No issues at all. Thanks a ton!!! Now all we need is a resizable version of it. :) TravisPosted in Editor Display

- I currently use Dreamweaver to edit html, xml, xsl, php, and css, and UltraEdit for all my other text files. I'm trying to migrate from Dreamweaver to some other (more reliable) general-purpose editor (yes, I regard Dreamweaver as general-purpose too). My goal is to edit all my ASCII files with a si...Posted in Syntax Highlighting

- Actually, I don't think it's invalid to use unescaped quotes in XML/XHTML: <title>Bob's Collection of 7" Singles</title> At least, W3C's validators never complain about my ' and ". The bigger point, however, is that most hand coders are *not* going to type out the entities: Bob's and "7. We're ...Posted in Syntax Highlighting

- Ahhh, so maybe over the course of a couple years I got used to Dreamweaver's size 8 Andale Mono, and now my eyes regard it as "normal", and regard any other font which does not look "normal" as bad? Hmm... I'll give Terminus a shot today and see how quickly my eyes begin to accept it as "normal". To...Posted in Editor Display

- Chris - Thanks! I just tried switching between ProFontWindows (size 10) to ter-112n (which I'd already installed) and noticed that they are very similar. Terminus' letters seem taller, but the width and line heights stayed exactly the same. Terminus seems a little clearer, but on the down side, it c...Posted in Editor Display
