Pasting in column mode with overstrike mode also active lets you paste over the text without selecting it. ... Been there, done that! But the pasted text is still inserted (at least in version 8.20a+).

I would have thought that switching to overstrike mode before pasting would allow the pasted text to replace the existing text ... Yes, this makes sense to me, but perhaps not to document editor program authors? :wink:

Can you imagine having to count the number of characters in EACH replacement string, and then selecting the right number of characters in the document :( ? I am attempting to fill in fields in a ...

Is it possible to paste text from the clipboard into a document where the text in the document is replaced by the contents of the clipboard? TIA.
