- I'm very grateful of your detailed and informative post.I'm also very interested in this topic and I suspect that other plausible ways to deal with these issues exist and keeping all types of customers happy without needing to invest unrealistic amounts of time or money might be possible, or I could...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Mofi, as always, I appreciate your very informative posts. I was, indeed, knowledgeable of how UTF-8 & UTF-16 handle the bytes of characters. However, I didn't know how apps handle variable byte lengths until now. Indeed, I understand now the memory & processing savings of a 2 byte string library. H...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- I've found out that many emojis in a UTF-8 encoded text file require two BACKSPACE key presses to be deleted by UltraEdit for Windows version 26.20.0.46. I know that some single characters are actually a combination of multiple characters and this combination is the reason why they require multiple ...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- My text files only use characters from the code page Windows-1252. Yet, upon opening, UltraEdit sometimes indicates that a text file is UTF-8 encoded. Why might UltraEdit make this incorrect assumption?Posted in Configuration/INI Settings

- Mofi, that had some great info. However, NONE of the Perl regex codes worked for me. If it helps to know, my txt files are ANSI - Latin 1 encoded. Ovg's code worked. However, after reading through your link, I figured out that I could accomplish this with as little as: \r\n$Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- If my page consists of: 1 ... 2 3 ... 4 5 ^p$ will get rid of lines 2 and 4, but it won't get rid of line 5. Is there a good way to get rid of a last blank line?Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- Sometimes a tab will take up 2 columns. Other times, it only takes up 1 column. What's up with that?Posted in Editor Display

- Ah! I read this site's Keyboard Shortcut guide and didn't see it. Then, I went to the keyboard mapper section in UltraEdit and looked for it. Apparently I wasn't thorough enough though. I looked under "paragraph" and "jump". I failed to look under "cursor". I've got it now. Thank you!Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Many text editors that I've used have hotkeys to jump to the following or previous paragraph, for example ALT + Up or ALT + Down. Has UltraEdit also such commands respectively hotkeys?Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Thanks for the detailed info. That's fascinating! Is there a particular reason why UE based their layout customization options on the GDI+ library? Especially if GDI+ has such imperfections, wouldn't UE be better off building their layout customization options through some other means?Posted in Editor Display

- I figured it out: only tab border and group separator are involved in those stylings, all the other border and shadow stylings cause aesthetic conflict. The layout customization settings of UE are nice, but the options seem excessive and disorganized at times. Oh well, at least I've got it looking g...Posted in Editor Display

- On some of the settings, the results are slightly different. For example, look at the separator in the custom layout versus a default layout. The custom separator has more pixels. Why does this happen? custom.PNG dafault.PNGPosted in Editor Display
