I just confirmed your intuition is correct... uninstalling IE7 allows the installation to work normally. As IE 7 is now release candidate 1, this is something the installer authors need to get on top of. Thanks to everyone on this thread for pointing me in the right direction! -- Lou in Vermont, USA
