- Hi friends, I have a XML file with lots of tags like these <dataLink readWrite="R/W" attribute="value" tag="CurrentRecipe.CurrentSelectedSet. 82 .Value" class="RecipeMgrWgt" widgetType="Project" sourceType="Recipe" dataSource="_RecipeMgr"/> <dataLink readWrite="R/W" attribute="value" tag="CurrentRec...Posted in Scripts

- There are other ways too. In FF right click on the page and from the context menu select 'Reload every' -> 5 seconds. FF will auto-refresh the page, no need to do anything in UE. (If you don't see 'Reload every' option, it may not be built-in but to come from the TabMixPlus plugin, not sure.) Insert...Posted in Custom User Tools/Tool Configuration

- I also think old icon set is easier to work with. Because I'm used to it or for some other reason - this actually doesn't matter. What matters is the final result, which is that I often wonder what icon is supposed to do this or that. No doubt new icons are good looking. Many, or probably most users...Posted in Editor Display

- yes, I tried with C:\tmp (both with default permissions and full control set for everyone), no difference. AFAIK in XP the built-in administrator account is no different than any other with admin rights. Anyway, in the VM I do not use the built-in administrator account but another account with admin...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- there's something really strange here. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\IDMComp\UltraEdit\ is writeable (just to be sure I set 'Full control' for 'Everyone' both for that folder and for UE installation folder) I tried deleting the spell check section of the .ini, deleting the...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- Hi, I currently use UE 13.00a. Tested v.15 and like the new features, so I would like to switch to it and use it for my everyday tasks. But, along with everyday tasks, I also use v13 extensively to execute various macros in command line mode from .bat files. Macros are too many and too important, I ...Posted in Configuration/INI Settings

- Attached is a .vbs file that I wrote to test pages through a local http server. Basically it translates a full local path to a http:// URL, and then sends a command to a browser to open the URL. Put it in some folder like C:\Windows\ and edit the '===EDIT HERE=== section so that paths are valid for ...Posted in Custom User Tools/Tool Configuration

- Hi and happy new year! If I type a URL in the File -> Open box, UE gets and displays the file. Is there a way to do the same from command line? E.g uedit32.exe "http://ultraedit.com" When I try it tells me path is not valid, but maybe there is some trick. ThanksPosted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- although I also partition my drives, doing this decreases performance. If you divide a HDD into 2 equal partitions, file reads/writes for the outermost track of the inner partition will be 1.4 times slower compared to outer partition. If you divide a HDD into 4 equal partitions, access to last one w...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- the potential of the Linux market is somewhere about 0.5% of the potential of the Windows market, and this is unlikely to change noticeably in the near future. So I wouldn't expect a non-Windows version soon, it just makes no [commercial] sense to put effort into this.Posted in UEX General Discussion

- Hmm, UPX compression offers nothing in terms of UE startup lag. Actually, upx increases app load time due to decompression overhead. A UPX-ed file should load faster, but then it needs some time for decompression. Looks like these two compensate each other, so it doesn't matter if the file is compr...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion
