- My office still uses UltraEdit v21.20.0.1004. 1) I was doing a compare of two files and wanted to alter the settings in UltraCompare Lite. When I clicked on Help it went the IDM website but the page was not found, so no help. I suppose that when the site was recently updated the help page was moved ...Posted in UltraCompare General Discussion

- Using commands instead of reserved words in my example as sometimes commands are not reserved words in other languages: For the conversion of reserved words to upper case I had a similar task for changing the case in IDL (Interactive Data Language not Interface Design Language) which has hundreds of...Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- When I saw this line I have to disagree: shell.uew ** ${ was removed as just ** $ highlights already all strings starting with a dollar sign and therefore ** ${ is not really needed. I use both - in different color groups - and it allows me to quickly locate instances where a variable is referenced ...Posted in Syntax Highlighting

- Yes, I am using Windows Classic. One of the applications we have to use for work forces a switch to Classic since it won't work right with Aero (constant low or out of resources error boxes). Aero or Classic is just one more thing I may have to account for when I get back to working on my chart of t...Posted in Editor Display

- What system and version of UltraEdit are you using? I'm on UE for Windows v21.20.0.1004 and Word Wrap settings are not on the Format menu, they're under the Advanced menu. If we don't know what version of UE you're using we won't have a starting point for understanding your problem.Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- I have two separate instances of UltraEdit set up with different options. My "regular" UE session uses a modified Slate theme. My "special" UE session was initially set up to use a modified Sterling theme. I decided to try a different theme. I downloaded all of the other themes on the IDM resources ...Posted in Editor Display

- Perhaps you were using the scroll wheel on your mouse in conjunction with the Ctrl key. That changes the font size up or down depending on the direction of the scroll. EDIT - I see Mofi mentioned that as well.Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- I'm not recommending a change to the XML theme file either as the primary solution to a simple problem. The GUI interface is the right way to go in that case. However if he does want to change the background color for all languages as he stated in his post, then the fastest way is through editing ch...Posted in Editor Display

- I haven't used the Unix/Linux version of UE. However if the theme XML file is arranged in a similar fashion to the Windows version, the setting you seek is actually several settings. You need to find the section of the XML that is tagged <Languages>. In that section you will find up groups tagged <L...Posted in Editor Display

- Thanks, Mofi. The syntax file works great. I working on this in my spare time now at home. I should get a large chunk done this weekend as I'm not as much of a sports fan as I used to be.Posted in Editor Display

- So I got home and fired up my personal copy of UE which is current, unlike the version at work which is still running 21.20. I found that there are several more values available dealing with the Ribbon menus.Posted in Editor Display

- I'm working on a new theme and I've been trying to match up the Manage Themes menu options to the XML in the theme file. While the Editor settings and the Syntax file settings are easy, the Application settings have proven to be more of an issue. There are 105 entries on the Drop Down menu when the ...Posted in Editor Display

- I don't use BASH but I do use Korn script and it suffers from the same problem where the # is both comment character and performs special functions like getting a substring value or referring to the number of command line parameters. Thanks for the solution Mofi, it works great for me too.Posted in Syntax Highlighting

- It would be possible to create a script to enable this functionality. You'll have to explain things more. The example you gave is of how you want the output to look. What we would need to know is what would the user supplied input be like so we can see how to get from input to output. For instance i...Posted in Scripts

- My work computer's hard drive crashed and the sys-admins had to do a complete rebuild and load because they got less than 12% of the data off of the dying drive.
