- Verify that the setting Configuration - File Handling - Load - Open files as read-only by default is not enabled. Nope - not enabled. I even tried enabling then disabling it (and the "Remember the read-only-setting..." option), but no change in behavior. When the UE Mobile trial starts, the dialog ...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- When I associate .TXT files through Windows (ie: Open With...) it does launch UEM, however the file does not open within UEM. I must either manually open or drag-and-drop the file. While this is obviously a trade-off for having an official portable version of UltraEdit, it is something that I'd lov...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- I decided to try out UE Portable 15.00 (for the PortableApps environment), and everything seems to work fine except for a couple things - most importantly all the menu items to save (Save, Save As, Save All, Save Selection As) are disabled - I can't save through the menu, Ctrl-S, Alt-F-S or any way ...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- I think that erase (like del) is an internal command for cmd.exe - there is no erase.exe executable. Since it looks like the OP is using some other command interpreter (/usr/bin/sh), that's why erase is not found.Posted in Build / Compile / Debug

- Because you can type "ue" instead of "uedit32"? That's one reason (as insignificant as it may seem). Another (for me anyway) is that I prefer not to load up my path with directories that have only a single command I'm interested in running - in those cases I usually put an 'alias' type of batch fil...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- One more small enhancement: change the %1 to %* and you'll be able to specify command line options as well as multiple filenames (not just a single wild-card). @start C:\PROGRA~1\IDMCOM~1\ULTRAE~1\uedit32.exe %*Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- It may not be currently possible in UltraEdit, and it may not be easy to implement, but there are editors that support this feature so it is certainly not impossible. I'd suggest sending this to support@idmcomp.com as a feature request.Posted in Syntax Highlighting

- Yup - line mode merge seems a little buggy (or at best, very poorly documented). In line mode, the 'non-advanced' merge commands (the ones without 'before' or after' qualifiers) act only on the first line of any selected range, and the operation simply replaces the line in the target buffer with the...Posted in Text Compare and Merge

- I just meant that I can't run the native diff command on the two sets of file, as they are, in place, on the server, because I can't get to a command prompt. I'm probably just dense, but I still don't understand... you mean that you want to run the diff/merge/whatever program on a server, but you c...Posted in Folder Compare and Merge

- but most of my hosting, I don't have command line access... I'm not sure I understand; regardless of what interface you have on the host, if you're running a windows program it doesn't matter whether or not it's command-line or GUI. Either one needs to be able to access the files on the host, but t...Posted in Folder Compare and Merge

- You may be able to use the diff utility from the GNU toolset (Win32 version here: http://unxutils.sourceforge.net/). However, diff only works with text files, so I'm not sure it'll work for PDFs. Docs: http://www.gnu.org/software/diffutils/manual/diff.html Here are some pointers to binary diff utili...Posted in Folder Compare and Merge

- I had a bit of a time getting the MS compilers configured on the Advanced tools menu to do quick-n-dirty compiles. I've seen several posts in this forum about getting compilers configured, with often no solid information given. So I figured I'd create this (rather long) post. I was surprised that th...Posted in Custom User Tools/Tool Configuration
