- I reported by email to IDM support on 10 Dec 2009 also that the displayed function names in the function list are not correct for Unicode files and the cursor positioning also does not work correct when the file is a Unicode file with UE v15.20.0.1022. I detected and reported this while testing the ...Posted in Syntax Highlighting

- Just a hint for StaticGhost: UltraEdit has also a switch to force a new instance, it is /fni which must be the first command line parameter (= first after the EXE name). For completeness, using /foi forces opening the file in the original (first) instance of UltraEdit if there are multiple instances...Posted in Custom User Tools/Tool Configuration

- In your case you would need a working base64 decoding in hex edit mode. I think IDM has implemented the feature only for base64 encoding/decoding for text content and not for binary content. It is possible to execute command Decode Base64 also in hex edit mode, but then UltraEdit tries to decode the...Posted in UltraEdit General Discussion

- The script file with the file name functions was updated on 2010-01-16. Function GetFileExt has now a second parameter named bWithPoint which is optional. The second parameter is of type boolean as prefix b already indicates. It can have the values false or true or is simply not used (= false ). If ...Posted in Scripts

- As IDM introduced this feature I suggested to make it also possible to open the found files. Unfortunately it looks like I was the only user which wanted that until now. I hope more users are requesting this enhancement by email from IDM. The same problem exists when running a Find In Files with an ...Posted in Find/Replace/Regular Expressions

- I have already sent the same suggestions for an enhancement to IDM by email some months ago. Please do the same to increase the number of requests for those features. Posting the request in the user-to-user forums does not have any affect on future versions of UltraCompare, see top of the page.Posted in UltraCompare General Discussion

- Okay, your custom.dic is also a simple Unicode text file. You don't have to add all 13.000 words by clicking on the Add button in the spell checking dialog for every word. I have this done only to create a custom dictionary for Aspell to get one and look on the file created. In UltraEdit at Advanced...Posted in Configuration/INI Settings

- I did not have a custom dictionary of Word (Office). So I used my Word 2007 and added some proper names to the user dictionary and looked on the file %appdata%\Microsoft\UProof\Custom.dic into which the words were saved by MS Word 2007. It was simply a Unicode encoded text file with 1 word per line ...Posted in Configuration/INI Settings

- sfqfirst , which version of UltraEdit do you use? If I open a UTF-8 file without BOM with UE v15.20.0.1022 and switch to hex edit mode UltraEdit does not add the 3 BOM bytes. It shows the content as really saved on hard disk. If I open a UTF-8 file with BOM with UE v15.20.0.1022 and switch to hex e...Posted in Configuration/INI Settings

- Indeed scrolling in the large C source file (3781KB, 110861 lines) is noticeable slower than in my C file (215 KB, 4060 lines). So there is something which can be improved, although I guess that this is surely not a typical C file. I have never seen such a large C source file and as the comment at t...Posted in Editor Display
