Through Google and forum searches, I come across 4K and the answers are usually for Windows. I use Arch Linux, and in the GNU/Linux community we use HiDPI.

I have a HiDPI laptop, and am already using "Large Icons". However, the icons are still small, and UltraCompare's icons are double the size. I tried looking for the "Ribbon Bar" option, but can't find it, and right-clicking on the toolbar doesn't bring up any context menu. I looked at the .idm files, but they looked like text versions of a registry export. Are there any other options for increasing the size of the icons? Thanks.

I use only UltraEdit on Windows. It looks like UEX supports only icons for the commands in the dimensions 16x16 and 24x24 as UltraEdit for Windows < v23.00 according to your post.

UltraEdit for Windows v23.00 introduced UHD support with file size of uedit32.exe increased from 14,895,264 bytes of UE for Windows v22.20.0.49 to 20,108,960 bytes of UE for Windows v23.00.42 mainly because of adding the symbols in additional dimensions. But it turned out that even more graphic resources are needed for a nice look on UHD screens with various pixel resolutions and physical dimensions. File size of uedit32.exe changed once again dramatically from 21,545,640 bytes of UE for Windows v24.20.0.40 to 18,277,032 bytes of UE for Windows v24.20.0.44 (executable file size decrease) with a file size increase of the resource DLL ueres.dll from 3,670,696 bytes of UE for Windows v24.20.0.40 to 33,171,112 bytes of UE for Windows v24.20.0.44.

I wrote about the file size changes so that you can look on file size of UEX respectively its resource file(s). Full UHD support requires all symbols in the dimensions 16x16, 24x24, 28x28, 32x32, 40x40, 48x48, 56x56, 64x64, 72x72, 80x80, 88x88, 96x96, 112x112 as in ueres.dll with file size 39,773,304 bytes of currently latest UltraEdit for Windows v2023.0.0.41 (v30.0.0.41 with version numbering before year 2022). The file size of the executable respectively the resource file is a good indication if an application supports high resolutions.

I suggest writing an enhancement request email and sending it to support of UltraEdit, Inc. that UEX needs also HiDPI or 4K, Quad HD, 5K, UHD, Retina support.
Best regards from an UC/UE/UES for Windows user from Austria
