Undo Size Limit

Undo Size Limit

I couldn't find this information after searching through the forum, but I thought it would already be available.

Does anyone know if there is a size limit for the Undo action to work?

For example, if I cut a large amount of text from my file then try to undo it later the text will not re-appear.

If there is a limit, is this a limitation built into Ultraedit or into the OS clipboard?

    Thanks.

I don't know if there is an undo limit or not in UltraEdit. I think the Windows clipboard and also the undo storage is limited only on your free available memory - free RAM and free virtual RAM (= pagefile.sys or win386.swp).

If you have Win2K or WinXP press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open the task manager and look at the memory data infos when undo is not possible. You can also use free (for non-commercial usage) Process Explorer from SysInternals can tell you dozens of system informations and works on all Windows platforms.

In UltraEdit you can only undo actions if you work with temporary files. If you have disabled the usage of temporary files, every edit is permanent.
