    Good evening,

After I made a (factory) installation of my harddisk and the software that I use, I was unable to start UltraEdit; the only thing that occurred was the screen with the extensions, after that nothing happend, no UltraEdit. I installed an newer version of UE but with the same result. So I was forced to return to an Windows 3.1 version of UE v6.10.

Does somebody has any idea what causes this problem?? Note that before the new HDinstall everything was fine.
Could it be possible that something is corrupting the UE.exe file?
Is there perhaps need of additional files?? I am using Windows 95.
Does somebody has a download link for a 32bit version of UE v6.10 ??

    TIA
    Tempelier

Newer versions of UltraEdit needs a windows system DLL for FTP access even if edit of FTP files is not used. This system DLL are not available on a plain Windows 95 installation. I copied the files from my Win98SE computer to the Win95b computer (windows system directory). The files needed are: ws2_32.dll and ws2help.dll.

You can install these files also with the Windows Socket 2 Update for Windows 95 from http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/down ... 5sockets2/
I'm not sure, if this update also installs a network. If you already have installed a network (LAN or dial-up "modem" network), this should be no problem for you.

If you want an older version of UltraEdit because you do not want to update to a newer version (with the tons of new features UltraEdit will be a little bit slow on old machines like my Pentium 166 MHz) write an email to IDM support with your registration name and code and you will get it from IDM.
