Hi, I use Tecnomatix RealNC. If we change an NC program in this software, we are clicking on a symbol in the toolbar as you see it below and than open it with notepad.exe. At the same time is created in local/temp folder a *.tmp folder automatically. We can the change text editor (Notepad). If we use UltraEdit as text editor. UltraEdit creates a folder but not *.tmp *.000. Therefor we cannot use 32-bit UltraEdit as text editor. Do you have a solution for this issue?

I do not know anything about Tecnomatix RealNC. I have not understood what exactly happens in the background on clicking on the symbol in the toolbar of this application.

The creation of temporary files and folders in the directory %TEMP% is usual for many applications, but not for 32-bit and 64-bit UltraEdit for Windows since v25.20 introducing the session features to keep unsaved changes on named files and even new, never saved files with entered text on exit and reload them on next startup of UltraEdit. There is used the directory %APPDATA%\IDMComp\UltraEdit\Restore since version 25.20 by UltraEdit for temporary files created by UltraEdit on opening them.

It would be very strange if any application other than the one creating temporary files in %TEMP% makes use of temporary files in that folder and processes them somehow.

Is there an online documentation of Tecnomatix RealNC explaining the settings for the text editor and the requirements for the text editor?

It is in general possible in UltraEdit itself integrating other applications by configuring one or more user tools or one or more project tools on using a project in UltraEdit. Such a tool configuration runs an executable with arguments like the name of the active file. The executable can be also a script interpreter like PowerShell (powershell.exe), Windows Script Host (cscript.exe or wscript.exe), or the Windows Command Processor (cmd.exe) for interpreting a *.ps1 file (PowerShell script), *.vbs (VBScript) or *.js file (JScript) or *.cmd file (batch file) which makes it possible to do more than running just one executable.

Configured user and project tools can be executed also from within an UltraEdit macro or UltraEdit script to do before or after tool execution more with active or other files opened in UltraEdit or with data output by the user tool, captured by UltraEdit, and written into the output window or a new text file or even into the active file replacing a selection.

I am quite sure that whatever is done by Tecnomatix RealNC on clicking on the symbol in its toolbar, it can be done also with a user tool configured in UltraEdit. It is just necessary to know what exactly happens in the background on clicking on this symbol in toolbar of Tecnomatix RealNC. Free tools like Process Monitor from Microsoft can be used to find out what is going on in background on performing an action in an application.
