Can UE render an RTF file?

    Hi,

I have a program that programmatically creates RTF files. I need an editor that 1) doesn't lock the file (unlike MS Word) so I don't have to keep opening and closing the file each time I re-run the program, and 2) has "revert to saved file" functionality.

I found some freeware RTF editors on the Net, but none had the revert to saved file functionality (AFAIK neither does Word).

So, does UE render RTF files? I don't want to see the RTF codes; it has to render the file like Word would. I don't need to edit the RTF file, I just ned to view it.

    Thanks,
    Scott

No, UltraEdit cannot render RTF files, because it is a pure text editor.

      Extra tip:
Download and install Total Commander from http://www.ghisler.com/ or only the Lister from http://www.ghisler.com/lister/
With the lister (F3 in Total Commander) you can view rtf files with primitive rtf rendering and because it is only a viewer, it does not lock it. With F2 when viewing the rtf file you can refresh the view after running your rtf creation program.
