Settings export/Import in v12

One of the features that "crept" in in v12 (it wasn't mentioned in the changes.txt) is the ability to export and import settings.

We currently have two licences and we took the route of using the registry for storing our settings as this offered the easiest mechanism for synchronising the two copies.

However, with the advent of this feature we can go back to .INI files...

Should I be able to just uncheck the "Use Registry settings" and this will cause my current settings to be saved to the .INI file? Answer - NO - I just checked...

So I exported my settings, unchecked my "Use registry" box and exited.
When I re-entered, I got an old UEdit32.INI file but when I re-imported my original settings, I got a message to shut down and restart UE but when I did, the old settings were there.

The only thing that worked was to overwrite the UEdit32.INI file with Explorer...

Anybody else experience this? Mine was under Win2K...

    TIA,
    Paolo

      Hi Paolo:

      I had a similar experience.
I worked around it by creating a UEDIT32.INI file in the windows directory and then the "Import" worked.

Prior to the creation of this file, I could not get the Import to work correctly.

Have you installed already the hotfix 3 of UE v12.00?

The hotfix history contains for "Issues Fixed (updated on 04/07/06)" the line: "Import of UE settings"

Does the import problem still exist with hotfix 3?

How to find the hotfixes and its history? See my post at Too many hotfixes ...
