Open in Windows File Explorer the directory %APPDATA%\IDMComp\UltraCompare while no instance of UltraCompare is currently running. Rename the file uc.ini to uc.ini.bak. Then start UltraCompare which creates uc.ini new with the default settings for all settings which can be configured in the Configuration dialog window and not just those for text and folder comparisons.

The preferred theme must be selected again as which UltraCompare theme to use is stored also in the file uc.ini while all other workspace settings are stored in volatile\uc.vod in the application data directory of UltraCompare. It is recommended to open in toolbar/menu mode from menu Options the Configuration or in ribbon mode from ribbon tab Home the Settings and review all configuration settings.

The file uc.ini.bak can be compared with newly created uc.ini after start and exit and one more start of UltraCompare with UltraCompare to see the differences between former used settings and the default settings. The file uc.ini.bak should be finally deleted on all configuration settings are set to the preferred configuration.
