Hi,

I have found a problem with UEStudio rendering a toolbar that contains a search string to find text box. The program seems to stop rendering any additional icons or item groups after the text box. This problem appeared in the 2026.0.0.21 version of UEStudio. Here is what my toolbars looked like under the previous version of UEStudio:

Here is what my layout looks like under 2026 UEStudio after restring my settings backup:

2026 Layout.png (42.21KiB)

Notice that the top toolbar is missing a bunch of stuff after the search text box. Here I added some of the icons back in:

Updated 2026 Layout.png (43.59KiB)

Here is what 2026 UEStudio looks like when I close and reopen it:

Reopened 2026 Layout.png (42.34KiB)

Notice the problem with the top toolbar.

Thank you,
Tracy

This is a user-to-user forum. Issues like that must be reported by email to support of UltraEdit, Inc. I recommend that you do that. The more users report an issue the higher becomes the priority for fixing it.

I have already detected that issue with UE/UES 2026.0.0.21 on 2026-06-15 and reported it on same day with an email to UltraEdit support. I could further see that after a restart of UE/UES with my custom toolbar with the search bar in the middle causing a ruined custom toolbar after the restart causes a crash of UE/UES on opening the Find and Replace window and running a find or replace. The workaround is the removal of the search bar from the custom toolbar until a new version of UE/UES is released which has fixed this serious bug. UltraEdit support has replied that the issue was forwarded to the developers for investigation and correction.

I found another minor issue with my custom toolbar after the upgrade from UE v2025.2.0.24 to v2026.0.0.21. The command View as is in my custom toolbar with an image but is shown after a restart as text. The property to show the command as image or as text is not correct stored and reloaded for this command. I kept the command View as in my custom toolbar as I can live with the fact that there is now the text View as shown in my custom toolbar instead of the symbol of this command. UltraEdit support could also reproduce this issue and it was also forwarded to the UltraEdit developers for investigation and correction.

BTW: Both issues are caused by storing the data of the search bar and the command View as incorrect in ue.in0 respectively ues.in0 as I could find out quickly. I could report the two issues for that reason very easily with step by step instructions for reproducing both issues providing just the file ue.in0 with each issue report and the three images (search bar issue) respectively two images (view as issue) of the custom toolbar.

The UltraEdit latest changes page and the UEStudio latest changes page list both for UltraEdit / UEStudio 2026.0 Update 1 (2026.0.0.23 released on 2026-07-09):
  • Fixed: Toolbar corrupted after upgrading
In downloaded the UE/UES installers and executed them for installing UE/UES 2026.0.0.23 over existing UE/UES 2026.0.0.21. Then I renamed the directory %APPDATA%\IDMComp\UltraEdit to UltraEditBackup2026 and restored the application data directory of UltraEdit 2025.2.0.24 from an archive to %APPDATA%\IDMComp. Now I started UltraEdit 2026.0.0.23. My custom toolbar looked fine. I exited UltraEdit and started it again. My custom toolbar looked still as in UltraEdit 2025.2.0.24. I switched to ribbon mode and could see on ribbon tab Home the additional item Ask UltraEdit. (BTW: The new item looks blurry which I need to find out why. Ask UltraEdit icon looks well on UltraEdit 2026.0.0.23 creates the entire configuration new.)

Conclusion: The configuration upgrade worked fine with UE version 2026.0.0.23 with the exception of the blurry Ask UltraEdit in ribbon mode which I do not use as I prefer the toolbar/menu mode with traditional menus with my custom toolbar. The issues with the search bar and the display of the command View as are both fixed with that version of UltraEdit/UEStudio.
