Toolbar button to toggle File Change Detection?

I take my laptop home and access our network via a kinda-pokey VPN. If I have dozens of remote files open, then the File Change Detection is painfully slow and frequent. So, I turn it off after it bogs down a few times. Hopefully I remember to turn this fabulous feature back on when I close most of the files or work again in the office.

What I'd like to do is have a toolbar button that toggles file change detection, or perhaps one button for ON and another for OFF. (If it indicated the current state, that would be bonus...but that doesn't seem to be something toolbar buttons do in UE.)

I tried to configure the toolbar to add a new button, but couldn't find an appropriate button.

I tried recording a macro, but that didn't seem to capture the change in configuration settings.

I gave half a glance at scripting, but this little fix isn't really worth learning a new technology. (Even though I'm sure I'd find many other uses for it!)

Soo....am I missing something? Is there an easy way to do this?

    TIA,
    -dave

ps. Yeah, I know I'm being a bit whiny, since it only takes a half-dozen clicks to toggle it. But if there's an easy fix, I'll certainly learn from it.

If you really mean the File Change Detection feature and not the File Change Polling feature then I must say: Sorry, this configuration setting cannot be modified via a menu, toolbar, macro or script command as far as I know.

Write a feature request email to IDM support.

Maybe it is possible to turn the file change detection off, but use the polling feature. Then you can easily turn polling on/off file by file.
